Edgar Allan Poe House (Lenoir, North Carolina) : ウィキペディア英語版 | Edgar Allan Poe House (Lenoir, North Carolina)
The Edgar Allan Poe House is a historic home located at Lenoir, Caldwell County, North Carolina USA. It was built in 1905, and is a two-story Dutch Colonial Revival style house with a gambrel roof and wraparound porch. It was built by a businessman named Edgar Allan Poe, not the famous writer. Lenoir's Poe was a prominent citizen, a builder and an early mayor of Lenoir, which was founded in 1841. It was during an industrial boom of the 1890s that Poe, a native of Dallas, N.C., came to Lenoir in 1893. On Oct. 28, 1897, Poe married Eugenia Maude Miller, who was from a well-known family in Caldwell County. The Poes' first house was on Scruggs Street. In 1905, two years after their second child was born, the Poes bought a half acre on Main Street and began construction of their second home. The house remained in the ownership of the Poe family until August 1999. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.〔 ==See also==
